Plas y Môr Runner-up in Prince of Wales Integrated Health Awards

Mary Williams and Prince CharlesCongratulations to Plas y Môr for coming runner-up in the prestigious Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health Awards. The Integrated Health Awards praise projects and practitioners with an innovative approach to health and wellbeing.

At a ceremony held in London, Plas y Môr gained recognition for promoting healthy living, creating supportive and sustainable environments to live or work in and empowering people to take an active role in their own care.

Plas y Môr was developed as a joint venture between Carmarthenshire County Council and Grŵp Gwalia Cyf in 2004. The scheme includes 38 one and two bedroom flats for people over 55, plus guest bedrooms, a hairdresser's, chiropodist's, laundry, music room/library, residents' shop, a kitchen, day centre and communal lounge. Twenty-four hour care and support can also be provided by the on-site care team.

Mary Williams, Head of Older Peoples' Services, received the runner-up award on behalf of Plas y Môr from Prince Charles who congratulated her on the work that is done by the staff and facilities provided at the scheme.

Lynne Colman and Alan TitchmarshLynne Colman, Scheme Manager of Plas y Môr, also attended the awards ceremony, she added "I was introduced to the Prince of Wales, who showed great interest in the work we do and even though we didn't come 1st simply being short-listed was a success in itself. I also got to meet Alan Titchmarsh which was an added bonus!"
