What does a Scheme Manager do?

The Scheme Manager's job is to provide a homely, safe environment for residents, and to assist them with access to services to prolong independent living. To act as an emergency point of contact between 11pm - 7am on Sunday to Thursday nights and to work 9am-5pm Monday to Friday with one hour for lunch.

  • To welcome new tenants and assist them in establishing a settled way of life on site.
  • To give good neighbourly day to day assistance and support to the tenants and to keep and eye on their general well-being
  • To maintain daily contact with tenants and to call on frail or indisposed tenants at least twice a day.
  • To be unobtrusively observant of the well-being and needs of the tenants, always being helpful whilst also fostering a sense of independence amongst the tenants
  • To be available in cases of emergency and after visiting the tenant concerned, to summon the service required, whether it be medical, nursing, social or domestic.
  • To establish good relations with tenants and all those concerned with their welfare
  • To initially assist tenants at time of incapacity and subsequently arrange for the appropriate support from other agencies or the tenant's family. The Scheme Manager is NOT expected to give nursing care and will NOT administer medicines.
  • To promote and encourage tenant participation in scheme and community events.

What happens when the Scheme Manager is away?

From time to time, the Scheme Manager may be away from your scheme. This may be due to holidays, study leave, meetings, family difficulties or even ill health. We will provide visiting Relief Manager service for a few hours a day starting on the first day of any planned leave which is more than 2 days.

We are unable to provide a relief full-time resident service.

Also, don't forget that the manager does not work at weekends, so is not available for scheme duties.
